Weighted vests are great training tools, but not all are good for women to use. Here are the best women's weighted vest so you can maximize your training and get results!
Which Women's Weighted Vest Is The Best?
Training with a weight vest is not new, but recent advances in weighted vest design has made weighted vests more popular among women.
When choosing a women's weighted vest, it is important to consider a few factors:
- What weight capacity do you need? Depending on your body weight, current strength levels, and types of training you'll perform, you may need more or less weight.
- Is the weighted vest comfortable for women? Some weighted vests will form fit to your body, while others will fit poorly. Proper fit and comfort should be high on the list of priorities when buying a weight vest for women.
- What is your price range? Cheaper vests tend to be clunky and uncomfortable, but you may not need the most expensive weighted vest on the market either.
Best Weighted Vest For Women
In my opinion as a track coach, the two best weighted vest for women are the Hyperwear Hyper Vest Fit and the Hyper Vest Elite.
Hyperwear is by far the best weight vest manufacturer, both due to their product quality and the comfort of their weighted vests.
As a sprinter, I have struggled to find weighted vests that I can use for all of my training. The typical weighted vest you see on Amazon will bounce around if you do even the most mild forms of exercise, making them uncomfortable to use. If a vest is not comfortable, the likelihood of you using the product will be low.
Both of Hyperwear's weighted vests are designed to be form fitting, easy to put on and take off, and have adjustable weights. The front zipper makes these vests easier to use than vests that have to go on over your head. Beyond that, you can choose how snugly the vest fits thanks to the adjustable webbing on the side of the vest.
Since acquiring my Hyper Vest Elite, I have been using a weight vest more than ever before. I had always had weight vests, but never really used them because they were not convenient or comfortable. Once I experienced Hyperwear's products, I was sold!

How Heavy Should A Women's Weight Vest Be?
When considering what weight capacity to choose, think about what type of training you'll be performing and what your goals are.
If you are performing bodyweight exercises such as squats and lunges, a higher weight capacity might be wise so that you can add load over time to progress your training. Since training needs to get more challenging over time, having a higher weight capacity can be useful for making long term improvements. A weighted vest capacity of 5 to 15 percent of your body weight would be appropriate for this type of training.
If you are performing complex, high velocity movements such as plyometrics or sprinting, you can use a low to moderate load such as 2 to 10 percent of your body weight. Since these movements are more impactful and fast, a lower load allows you to benefit from a weighted vest while minimizing risk of injury.
If you plan to do things like walking or jogging with extra weight, 5 to 15 percent of your bodyweight would be adequate in a women's weighted vest.
Best Women's Weighted Vest - Conclusion
Either way you go, you will be satisfied by the Hyper Vest Fit or the Elite. If you can't decide which one, think about the following questions:
- Do you need a higher weight capacity? The Hyper Vest Fit is good if you do not need much weight, such as 10 pounds or less.
- Do you like to change your workouts or keep them the same? The Hyper Vest Elite will allow for different loads to be used depending on your workout.
- Do you train very hard or prefer moderate exercise like walking through the neighborhood? The Elite is better for serious workouts, while the Fit is better for moderate exercise.
As someone who owns a Hyper Vest Elite, I can say with confidence that either vest is a great option depending on your needs. And yes, they are better than the rogue weight vest!
