Sprint Training — staying low

Nearly every sprinter has heard or been told that a key to faster acceleration sprinting is to “get low”. The idea here is that if we can project out at a lower angle relative to the ground, we can orient our force production in a more horizontal manner, leading to faster acceleration sprinting. Coaches debate whether or not this is good advice, mainly because going lower than what your strength allows for can cause you to stumble, overstride, side-step, or get injured.
